Project summary:
The general objective of the project is to provide support to young children in early childhood and their families from vulnerable groups of Roma communities in the municipality of Lom to improve access to health care, develop parenting skills, improve the family environment, increase school preparedness of children and limit the transmission of intergenerational poverty.
Main target groups: 350 children aged 0-6 in isolated and poor urban areas in the municipality of Lom, with a concentration of problems creating a risk of poverty, social exclusion and marginalization; 200 parents, guardians or caregivers. Secondary target group: Service provision team – 9 newly appointed persons: hub coordinator, three educational mediators, three pedagogues, social worker and psychologist and 10 persons working in an existing center under the project “Lom Municipality – Caring of Children”; 20 municipal employees.
Planned activities: 1) Development of concept and documentation of the complex of services and hubs; 2) Employing experts; 3) Educational activities at an early age and piloting social and emotional training; 4) Improving access to social and health services and supporting social inclusion; 5) Activation of parents and formation of parenting skills; 6) Joint activities for community involvement; 7) Reconstruction and construction and installation works, equipment and furniture; 8) Sharing good practices; 9) Strengthening bilateral relations with donor countries; 10) Information and publicity. Expected results: 1) Establishment of 3 functionally connected hubs in the Lom municipality (2 upgraded existing centers, and a new mobile one), providing a range of health, educational and social services and supporting the active participation of the community; 2) 350 children aged 0-6 covered by the educational, social and health services.
