Project summary:
The main goal of the project is to create a supportive environment and institutional mechanisms to improve the opportunities for inclusion, territorial and social integration of separate Roma communities in Kameno Municipality. The project concept considers integration both as a process of support for individual personal realization, support for improving the family environment and living conditions, as well as in the context of community identity and its acceptance within the social macro environment. The project’s ambition is to address several aspects of improving the environment: access to services (social, health, educational), family well-being, territorial integration and elimination of inequalities, institutional and community capacity for interaction, overcoming stereotypes and creating a culture of tolerance.

The specific objectives of the project include: Establishing a model for community work with socially vulnerable families, including Roma in Kameno Municipality; Improving access to integrated services for the socially vulnerable and families at risk; Mobilization of the local potential for partnership and interaction with zero tolerance to the manifestations of discrimination; Capacity building for active participation and involvement of Roma communities in the decision-making process at the local level; Creating a local institutional and community culture that supports diversity and ethnic tolerance.

The project implementation strategy is structured around several groups of activities: Project management and implementation; Providing conditions and infrastructure for community work; Construction and equipment of a Center for Community Work; Providing integrated services for vulnerable families; Building local capacity for participatory development and implementation of integration and social inclusion policies; Activities for popularization of cultural diversity and overcoming stereotypes; Information and communication activities. The main target communities of the project are separate Roma communities on the territory of Kameno town – Krastina and Svoboda village.
