Summary:
The aim of the project is to provide approaches in working with vulnerable groups, children and women from Roma communities, by including them in these processes and increasing the capacity of professionals to use appropriate approaches, for the prevention of violence in their work with vulnerable groups, to increase public awareness of the problems of Roma women and the discrimination they face, through work with several schools and companies, where mainly representatives of the Roma community are trained and work, in the territory of Tundzha municipality and Yambol region.
Expected results: Prepared Handbook to help teachers “Prevention of domestic violence and gender-based violence”; Prepared Handbook to help experts working with women from Roma communities “Guidelines for working with vulnerable groups of women for the prevention of gender-based violence and domestic violence”; Publication “Women-safe in the workplace” – paper and digital version; Conducted trainings, with participants teachers and Roma mediators from 3 different villages of Tundzha Municipality; Conducting an information campaign; “SOS Office” established; Held school camp in nature “Happy childhood for every child”; Conducted information campaigns. Publicity measures implemented.
Updates:
In April 2024, in two of the villages on the territory of the Tundzha Municipality, the “SOS office” started working. This specific service provides an office in the school of the relevant settlement, in which, for 3 months, 1 psychologist-specialist in domestic violence and gender-based violence will be available for 4 hours a day (the afternoon part of the day). The office will provide free psychological counseling and personal support, but will also support the children/persons who sought help with advice on how to enter the labor market, as a way of empowerment and independence. The office is aimed at both children and their parents – mostly women.
The “SOS office” in the village of Roza is located in the “St. Paisii Hilendarski”, office No. 6, on the first floor, with working hours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with psychologist Petya Alexandrova.
The “SOS office” in the village of Kukorevo is located in the “Hristo Botev” elementary school, on the first floor, with working hours from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with psychologist Radka Vasileva. Both offices start working on 24.04.2023 to 24.06.2023. After a short summer break, the offices will be open again from 18.09.2023 to 18.10.2023.
