Project summary:
The need for quality services in the field of early childhood education and care, youth policies and measures, including non-formal education and the need for well-trained educational mediators targeted at Roma communities remain among the priority areas of the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” Programme. The project will transfer the expertise and knowledge of the Council of Europe and the leading Bulgarian experts to the relevant participants in the various projects funded by the Programme in order to enable them to provide better services aimed at effective, inclusive and active participation in specific activities of individual projects, in accordance with applicable European standards and approaches. Another contribution will be the development of an electronic platform designed to become a knowledge-based center for inclusive education. The main target groups are pedagogical staff, Roma educational mediators, teachers in pedagogical faculties nominated by the project partner, trainers of youth workers, Roma educational mediators and teachers (training of trainers) hired under other procedures funded by the Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Poverty Programme.
The overall goal of the project is to build administrative capacity for educational and social inclusion by providing relevant training in various fields to several types of participants involved in the implementation of other projects in the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” Programme. Specific objectives are: Development of methodology and programme for training teachers and pedagogical experts to work in multicultural and multiethnic educational environment (for university teachers); Development of a training package for improving the knowledge, skills and competencies of university professors from pedagogical faculties and pedagogical experts for prevention and protection against discrimination and social exclusion, combating anti-Roma attitudes; Upgrading the existing educational frameworks by developing training modules for youth workers, educational mediators, non-teaching staff, to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies; Development of an electronic platform related to the activities of the target groups – providing access to the developed educational frameworks, external resources, etc., as well as effective communication in an electronic environment; Organizing information and public events to promote project activities; Exchange of experience between university lecturers from the pedagogical faculties in Bulgaria and experts from the donor states.
