The need to establish such centers has been identified in both municipalities as a result of extensive research among the Roma community carried out by the joint program of the Council of Europe and the European Commission ROMACT. All services in the Mother Centers will be based on the implementation of the family-oriented approach to child care. All services will be based on the desire to inform and empower parents in order to increase their parenting capacity. Parents will be involved as partners in working with the child and this will give much greater effectiveness to the work of specialists. The planning of the services will be done jointly, and the activities will be in accordance with the needs of family support. Parents will receive comprehensive information about everything that concerns their child and each activity will be discussed in advance and agreed with them. This will broaden their parenting skills and beliefs about what caring for their children’s development should look like. Another very important aspect of the family-oriented approach will be the building of parental networks for mutual assistance. In them they will be able to share their worries, difficulties, fears and dreams. Interinstitutional relations and cooperation will be key to mutually reinforcing the measures taken by different actors in each specific area. Interaction with nurseries and kindergartens, with schools, with medical services, with hospitals, with other social services is the condition that builds the overall institutional support environment. Working together will provide an opportunity for mutual learning and complementarity of competencies. At least 300 children aged 0 to 6 and their parents of Roma origin will be covered by the activities of the Mother Centers. The main goal of the project proposal is to support children from vulnerable groups, from Roma communities in early childhood and their families to improve access to health care, develop parenting skills, improve the family environment, increase school readiness of children for inclusion in education system.

Grant amount: 499 984 EUR

Contact: Boris Borisov
email: bborisov@botevgrad.org
phone: +359 885 205075
address: 13 Osvobozhdenie Square, 2140 Botevgrad, Bulgaria

At least 300 children aged 0 to 6 and their parents of Roma origin will be covered by the activities of the Mother Centers in Skravena village, Litakovo village, Botevgrad municipality Mezdra town.

[126,124,128,259,22,153
364,424,418
post-1511","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education-active-citizenship","category-healthcare-young-medics","category-human-rights-gender-equality","category-local-development-poverty-reduction-and-enhanced-inclusion-of-vulnerable-groups-bulgaria","category-projects","category-vratsa-district","tag-children","tag-early-childhood-development","tag-services
["GET
